Since being founded in 1952, J.J. Agnello Heating & Air Conditioning Inc has been dedicated to delivering comprehensive residential cooling and heating services in Erie, PA. For more than 65 years, our family-owned and -operated business has supported locals with fast, accurate response times. We’re proud to provide property owners in the Erie County and Lake Erie area with first-class workmanship.


As a Lennox Premier Dealer, our team primarily installs and repairs Lennox products. However, we professionally service all furnace and air conditioning systems. Flexible scheduling allows us to make convenient appointments. Angie’s List customers have been giving us top ratings for more than 10 years.

For over 74 years in Erie, Pennsylvania, and nearly 60 years as Lennox’s Premier Dealer, J.J. Agnello Heating & Air Conditioning has stood firmly on one promise since 1952:

Founding

In 1952, a World War II veteran named John Joseph Agnello returned home to Erie, Pennsylvania, with something more powerful than tools — he carried discipline, integrity, and an unshakable belief in doing things the right way. That same year, he founded J.J. Agnello Heating & Air Conditioning. Built from the ground up in Erie, PA, the company was founded on principles that still define us today:

  • Stand behind your work.
  • Deliver craftsmanship that lasts.

More than 74 years later, those principles remain unchanged.

A Partnership Built on Excellence

In 1966, Lennox Industries recognized what Erie already knew — John J. Agnello’s reputation was built on excellence. Lennox approached him with an opportunity to become the Premier Lennox Dealer in Erie, Pennsylvania. It was an offer he couldn’t refuse. Nearly 60 years later, J.J. Agnello Heating & Air Conditioning remains Erie, PA’s Lennox Premier Dealer, a testament to consistency, trust, and long-standing expertise in heating and air conditioning systems.


That partnership is not just about equipment. It represents decades of technical leadership in HVAC throughout Northwestern Pennsylvania.

The Second Generation: Innovation, Engineering, and Master Craftsmanship

In 1987, John J. Agnello’s three sons assumed leadership of the company:

  • Anthony Agnello – Commercial Installation Expert
  • Tom Agnello – HVAC Service & Financial Operations Expert
  • Phil Agnello – Residential Installation Expert

Under their leadership, the company expanded across Erie County, Crawford County, and surrounding communities, strengthening both residential and commercial HVAC services. But growth was never just about expansion.It was about refinement.

During the 1980s, Phil and Anthony Agnello transformed residential zoning into a focal point of the company’s expertise. At a time when most homes relied on a single thermostat, they engineered zoning systems that allowed homeowners to control temperatures room by room and floor by floor.


They were not simply installing furnaces — they were redefining comfort in Erie homes.



Through airflow balancing, advanced system design, and precision duct layout, they elevated expectations for what HVAC performance could truly be. Homes across the region experienced a level of comfort that had rarely been achieved before.


At the same time, Tom Agnello reshaped the company’s service division and became a master of custom ductwork design — knowledge that was personally taught to him by his father, John J. Agnello.

Under John’s mentorship, Tom mastered the art and science of airflow.


Anthony, Tom, and Phil helped design and fabricate custom duct systems for homes and commercial buildings that were engineered for performance — systems that were balanced, efficient, and built with craftsmanship rarely seen in the industry.


These were not standard layouts. They were precision-built airflow systems designed specifically for each structure — a level of custom mechanical engineering that set J.J. Agnello apart. That dedication to airflow perfection remains embedded in the company’s DNA today.
